Our 10 Most Common
Questions

Do I need a referral

Nope! You can schedule a consultation with us directly.

What the right age for my child's first orthodontic visit?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends age 7, but we see patients of all ages, including adults.

How long will I need to wear braces or aligners?

It depends on your unique smile, but most people complete treatment in 12 to 24 months.

Do braces hurt?

You might feel some soreness for a day or two after adjustments, but it’s usually mild and manageable.

Can I still play sports or instruments with braces?

Absolutely. Just wear a mouthguard for contact sports, and you might need a little time to adjust if you play a wind instrument.

What foods should I avoid with braces?

Skip sticky, hard, or crunchy foods (think gum, popcorn, and hard candy).

How often will I have to come in for appointments?

Usually every 6 to 8 weeks so we can check progress and make adjustments.

Is Invisalign® an option for me?

In many cases, yes! We’ll evaluate your smile and let you know if clear aligners are a good fit.

Does insurance cover orthodontic treatment?

Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment?

Retainers help keep your teeth from shifting after your braces or aligners come off. Don’t worry, we’ll walk you through exactly how (and how long) to wear it so your smile stays in place for years to come.
